Now that you have a beutifull, amazing opal you might want to know how to care for one?
RP Design will help you!
Depending on what type of opal you have you need to care for it in different ways.
Opals are made out of tiny silicone balls. Between these balls there is water and it's thanks to this water that gives the opal it's color.
The opal can have different backdrops off color for example black, blue, green or white. Black being the most expensive.
But the actual play of colors is given to the opal when the stone has water in it. Opals contain upp to 20% water and of course it needs to be "watered"
Australian opals are not prone to over whatering but are more sensitive towards chemicals.
Watering
Watering your opals is what you need to do when your opals dry out. But depending on if it is an australian or an ethiopian you need to do it differently.
Thermal shock will lead to your opals to crack.
To avoid this simply make sure the water you are using is the same temperature as your stone. Ethiopian opals are much more prone to this problem.
Ethiopian opals are more sensitive to
"OVER WATERING".
If this problem occurs the opal may become totally transparent but dont panic it will become like normal in a few moments but while it has been over whatered make sure its still not sitting in water for that will take it longer to loose its transparency.
